All About Video Production – #1

Video production is generally considered as the professional process of producing video content usually for commercial purposes. Similar to filmmaking, video images are recorded digitally instead of on traditional film stock.

Involving three main stages of production, most video productions involve pre-production, production, and post-production.

Pre-production

This involves all of the planning aspects of the video production process before filming begins including scriptwriting, scheduling, logistics, and other administrative duties.

Production

This is the phase of video production which captures the video content (moving images / videography) and involves filming the subject(s) of the video.

Post-production

This is the action of editing together all video clips into a finished product to communicate your message. This can be done using live in-camera editing for live production or as a post-produced edited feature.

Most video content is captured on electronic media like SD cards or on solid state flash storage commonly used in professional equipment. Video files are shared in common formats such .mpeg, .mpg, .mp4, .mov, .avi, .wmv and .avi or .divx.
